Nomad Dagger Review

I drilled this ball with the pin and cg stacked under my ring finger with no extra hole. The pin on this ball was approx 3" which put the Cg just above my thumb. To compensate for the additional thumb weight this created, I drilled the fingers deeper to get the thumb weight to zero.

I used this layout to give me a skid/flip reaction for use on shorter oil patterns and on house shots as they break down. My Theory is drilled in a similar manner. Recently in league, my Theory was too…

Theory Ball Review

I drilled the Theory using a 4 1/2", 75 degree pin/pap layout, MB 4 1/2" from pap, pin below my ringer finger, small rev leverage hole 2 1/2" below my pap on VAL.
On a PBA experience league Shark pattern (44'), the Theory revved up nicely in the mid-lane and had a strong, controlled move off the break point, with strong roll through the pins. On a PBA experience league Scorpion (41') pattern, the Theory showed the same…

Mutant Cell Pearl Review

I drilled the Mutant Pearl with the pin above my fingers, 4 3/4" from my axis, cg out (enough to drill weight hole), MB 1 1/2" right of thumb, 1 1/8" weight hole on my VAL, 2" down from my axis (4 7/8>up 13/16). The Pearl gets down the lane about 2' longer than my Mutant solid on a fresh house shot. The reaction off the dry is a very smooth, arcing motion through the pins. The Pearl hits hard, like all the Cell balls, with strong continuation…

Roto Grip Grenade Review

Using the core found in the Riot and Dark Star, Roto Grip has wrapped a urethane, 2000 grit abralon finish, coverstock (retrothane), around the core to give this ball the same Rg and Differential as the Dark Star and Riot. As the newer, stronger covers, tend to burn up lane conditions faster than in the "old" urethane days, urethane is making a return. From the novice to the advanced bowler, a urethane cover will provide a more controlled ball reaction on light to drier…

Dark Star Review

Combining the Ultimate Vision pearl coverstock (1500 polished) with a new medium core (2.58) and medium differential (.40), Roto Grip introduces the Dark Star to its mid priced line. With a slightly stronger Rg than the Planet series, the Dark Star is a ball for medium to drier patterns. For PBA patterns, with proper layout, a stroker/tweener will find the Dark Star to be a good "go to ball" on the 37' Viper and 35' Cheetah as the pattern breaks down.
I…

Mutant Cell Review

Simply put, the new Mutant Cell is a Cell on mega steroids. Want backend that is controlled and drives through the pins?? Mutant Cell is the way to go.

I drilled my Mutant using a 5" pin/pap, MB 3" from pap, with a 3" pin buffer. I bowled a game with it after I finished a PBA league on the scorpion 41' pattern. This Mutant was too strong out of the box for that 41'. I used a 4000 abralon pad on a spinner and, voila, perfect. I used it on a 41' house pattern and shot 704 (246-255-203)… Continue

Nomad Pearl

I drilled the box condition Nomad Pearl with a pin (2-3") just above the fingers on grip centerline, Cg on gripline ,no weight hole, producing a skifd/flip layout .

The Silver Streak, symetric Rotary Core wrapped in the Ultra Vision pearl cover, produces an excellent read of the lane and explosive hit on the pins.

I used this ball on a PBA Sr Tour 37' shot in Decatur Illinois on both qualifying squads .The Nomad Pearl made a nice move down lane off the pattern, and had a… Continue

Nomad Solid Review

I drilled the box condition (1500 polished) Nomad Solid with a pin just below the fingers on grip centerline, Cg out, and a 31/32 weight hole on a line from grip center to the VAL, which placed it in the thumb quadrant. (Modified RICO Layout)

The Silver Streak, symetric Rotary Core wrapped in the Ultra Vision Solid cover, produces an excellent read of the lane and explosive hit on the pins. If you liked the Silver Streak, you will definately like the Nomad Solid.
