WRECKER

WRECKER

I took on a fresh 41' house shot. My game is that I'm a tweener with about 300rpm and 15.5 mph ball speed. When I tried to throw this ball around the 10th board out to the 5th board with my lack of ball speed, the Wrecker went sideways and finished high or through the nose. So I thought about a surface change. I took a 4000 pad and hand sanded the Wrecker to dull it down a little. After sanding it, I played the lanes 10 to 5 and the ball was a little earlier but the backend… Continue

DISTURBED

DISTURBED

WOW!!!! I know this isn't a good review but WOW... Well let me get started, I took this ball to bowl on a 39' house shot. When I tested this ball, I had six other people on this pair because I wanted the lanes to get dried up faster so I could see how long I could use it. I used this ball for about six games before it got to be too early. I'm a tweener around 300 rpm with about 15.5 mph ball speed. For a dull box finish ball, this Disturbed is not disturbing. It'll make… Continue

DEFIANT SOUL

DEFIANT SOUL

I took my Defiant Soul out for the real test today. I bowled on a 39' house shot. I'm a tweener rev rate around 300, ball speed 15 mph. I first took my Defiant and played 12 to 5 and it looked very good with a strong arc to the pocket. So I then took my Defiant Soul and played the lanes in the same area. Super clean through the fronts with a great big move to the pocket. Talk about hit, this ball will slap pins all over the place. I'm really impressed with this ball. I… Continue

ROTO GRIP SHATTER ball review

ROTO GRIP SHATTER

I FIRST TOOK THIS BALL TO THE LANE THAT I HAD TESTED THE BERSERK ON. IT HAD JUST A FEW GAMES ON THE LANE AND STILL THE 39' HOUSE SHOT. THIS BALL WAS AS STRAIGHT AND CLEAN THROUGH THE FRONTS WITH A GREAT BIG ANGULAR MOVE ON THE BACKEND, WITH ABSOLUTELY  NO DEFLECTION. FOR MY GAME, ANGULAR IS USUALLY PART OF MY DESCRIPTION. I THEN TOOK IT TO A FRESHLY OILED 39'HOUSE SHOT LANE WITH EXTREMELY CLEAN BACKENDS. HAD PRETTY MUCH THE SAME RESULTS...SUPER EASY TO GET IT… Continue

ROTO GRIP SCREAM ball review

ROTO GRIP SCREAM

I WAS THROWING THIS BALL ON THE LANE I THREW THE SHOUT ON. IT SURPRISED ME!!!! I WAS THINKING WEAKER THAN THE SHOUT, BUT I SHOULD NOT EVER THINK. I MOVED OVER TO A FRESH LANE WITH THE 39'HOUSE SHOT ON IT AND SQUARED UP AND WAS PLAYING 12 TO 5 WITH A BIG BOOMING MOVE TO THE POCKET. I BOWLED SEVERAL GAMES WITH THE SCREAM AND AS LONG AS I GOT IT TO THE FRICTION DOWN THE LANE,  IT READ AND HOOKED AND HIT LIKE CRAZY. THIS BALL REALLY WENT WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. IN… Continue

Roto Grip Shout ball review

ROTO GRIP SHOUT

I TOOK THIS BALL TO A SLIGHTLY USED LANE (39' HOUSE SHOT) AND STARTED OFF GOING UP THE BOARDS USING FIFTH BOARD AS MY BREAK POINT..STARTING THE BALL AROUND THE TENTH BOARD AND GOING OUT TO FIVE. THE BALL JUST ROLLED FOR ABOUT 37' THEN MADE A BIG ARCING MOVE TO THE POCKET. IT WAS KICKING 10 PINS TO THE MIDDLE. PLENTY OF HIT FROM THIS ONE. FOR ME ON A FRESH LANE, I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE SURFACE A LITTLE AND TRY IT THEN. ON THE FRESH LANE FOR ME, IT WAS A LITTLE SPEED… Continue

ROTO GRIP BERSERK ball review

ROTO GRIP BERSERK

I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RELEASE OF THE BERSERK BECAUSE THE NOMAD DAGGER WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. AS USUAL, I BOWLED WITH THIS BALL FIRST ON A 39' HOUSE SHOT AND I MUST SAY THIS BALL DID NOT DISAPPOINT. WITH THE BOX FINISH, I HAD TO OPEN THE LANE UP BECAUSE THIS BALL HOOKS!!!! BUT AS FAR AS GETTING DOWN, THAT'S NOT A PROBLEM AS LONG AS THERE IS SOME OIL. THE BALL REALLY READS THE MID LANE VERY GOOD WITH THE STRONGEST MOST CONTINUOS BACK END MOVE I'VE SEEN… Continue

Defiant Edge ball review

DEFIANT EDGE

Let me start out by saying WOW. What a great bowling ball. I first threw mine on a 39' house shot and I hit the pocket from everywhere that I tried. In the past I haven't been the biggest pearl cover stock fan. But then Roto Grip came out with the last two pearls, the Critical Theory and now the Defiant Edge. I threw it on a variety of sport patterns from shorter to longer patterns, and with some small surface changes I could still use it. Even when I used a 2000 grit… Continue

Roto Grip Infinite Theory Review by Ricky Woods

Roto Grip Infinite Theory

When I received my new Infinite Theory, I went and threw it on Kegel's Route 66 pattern. Box finish for me really cleared the fronts extremely well with a STRONG move toward the pocket. But for me box finish was a little too shiny. So I took it down with a 4000 pad just knocking the shine off a little. Big improvement but still not enough for me. So I took a 2000 pad and went over it and that was perfect. The ball still cleared the fronts with ease and read… Continue

Roto Grip Rising Star Review by Ricky Woods

Roto Grip Rising Star

Where to begin? WOW!!! I took this ball along with the Riot and Dark Star and bowled on a 39' house shot. The Riot was great as always with a smooth strong arc to the pocket. The Dark Star was long and angular to the pocket. The Rising Star was AWESOME!!!! It gave me the best of everything. Super clean through the fronts and a snapping backend movement. I also threw this ball on Kegel's Route 66 pattern after I had broken the pattern down with my Infinite Theory… Continue

Theory ball review by Ricky Woods

Well I took this ball out to bowl with it on a beefed up house shot. I first threw my Mutant Cell box finish which was plenty strong. So now to the Theory, I line up with the Theroy box finish as I did with the Mutant and the first shot went four pin high. Thinking I might have just been a little slow, I threw it again with the same results. So I made a 3 and 2 move left and it was still too strong. So I moved another 3 and 2 and this ball was cleaner through the fronts but strong and…

Nomad Dagger ball review by Ricky Woods

WOW!!!! enough said. When I first heard of the release of this ball, I really got excited. I've watched several of my friends throwing the Hy-Road and I really liked the reaction of it. I got mine and bowled on a 39' house shot. I started with the ball factory finish and was playing up the gutter with medium speed. The ball just floated through the fronts with a STRONG ANGULAR backend movement. As the outside started drying out, I just kept on moving left and the ball never started hooking… Continue

Roto Grip MUTANT CELL PEARL Ball Review by Ricky Woods

I TOOK MY MUTANT CELL PEARL ALONG WITH MY PEARL CELL AND THREW THEM ON A 39' HOUSE SHOT. I ALWAYS CHANGE THE SURFACE OF EVERY SHINEY BOWLING BALL TO A SURFACE THAT I CAN REDO AS I CAN'T REPRODUCE THE FACTORY FINISH. I TOOK THE CELL PEARL AND PLAYED FROM 9 TO 4, I HAVE MEDIUM SPEED AND I'M A TWEENER. AS ALWAYS THE CELL PEARL WAS SUPER CLEAN THROUGH THE FRONTS WITH A STRONG BACKEND MOVE WITH GREAT HITTING POWER. NOW ONTO THE MUTANT CELL PEARL. THE SAME SHOT AS BEFORE, THE MUTANT CELL PEARL WAS AS… Continue

Roto Grip GRENADE Ball Review by Ricky Woods

OH YEAH!!!!! THIS BALL IS AWESOME. OLD SCHOOL. I TOOK THE GRENADE AND USED IT ON A 35' FLAT PATTERN. THIS BALL WAS AMAZING. IT READ THE DRY BOARDS AND MADE A NICE SMOOTH MOVE TO THE POCKET. I WAS PLAYING UP 2nd & 3rd BOARD. I KNEW THIS BALL WAS GOING TO BE GOOD, JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW GOOD. WITH THE SMOOTHER MOVE TO THE POCKET, IT KEPT THE PINS ALIVE AND DANCING AROUND ON THE PIN DECK. THIS BALL WOULD BE A MUST FOR ANYONE, BUT THE HIGH REV PLAYERS WOULD REALLY LIKE IT. AS THE CONDITION OF THE… Continue
