I can understand tournament play because 2 lane courtesy is more "professional" in a way and also make the tournament run very evenly because we switch lanes every game. Everybody somewhat finishing at the same time.

Now 2 lane courtesy in league is stupid in my opinion. Because some people give it and some people dont know what the proper 2 lane courtesy is. I will not give it in league but i always give it in tournaments. What does everybody think about this topic? Just asking

lane courtesy? are you kidding? some people have no clue what you're talking about. you're talking 2 lanes, half the time you can't even get one. for me, there is one simple rule. don't do anything to someone that you don't want done to you. second, in bowling whether some people want to believe this, the right lane with the bowler on it, proceeds to bowl first.

there have been many times i've backed off the approach to avoid the confusion with the lack of lane courtesy. then when you give the lane courtesy, you have to wait a year and day for them to throw the bowling ball. you do your thinking about your shot, BEFORE you get on the approach. when you get on the approach, you set up and go through your execution of your shot. you don't stand there thinking about, did i feed the dog? did i leave the iron plugged in when i left the house? do i have my bowling shoes on too tight? or whatever else that seems to run through some peoples minds at times.

something else that just amazes me. whether people believe it or not, bowling is also a tempo sensitive sport. everyone's tempo is different. yet, when you see someone is on a six or seven bagger and you're barely going to top out at 200, let the person go and shoot their shot. they have found their tempo, don't go slow it down for them. you're still going to get your chance to bowl regardless.

i think everyone should go watch a regional or a qualifying round of the pba. the lane courtesy is there. yet it is "arranged" in such a fashion the the tournament runs smoothly. not certain teams or bowlers dragging their behinds to finish.
one lane courtesy is plenty..(for league)..........
I give one lane in leaue and tournaments unless 2 lanes are required. I cant stand to be bowling in something whether league or tournament and bowlers get mad because they arent recieving 2 lane courtesy. If its not called for by the directors than its not necessary to give. i dont need it. i grew up not getting it so whats the difference now. If you get distracted by someone going to bowl at the same time as you 2 lanes down you might need to practice on your focus. Now i do see the need of it to help keep a even, steady pace for tournaments but it should not cause you to lose focus
I agree, one lane courtesy for league is plenty. Most of our local league bowlers are just average bowlers there to have a good time. It is hard enough trying to get a rhythm going when there are 10 bowlers on a pair of lanes giving one lane courtesy. Giving 2 lane courtesy would take all night. There are certain teams that can't even seem to get up and bowl when it is their turn. It's funny how walking in and seeing who you have that night, the first thing that pops in your head is "Man we are going to be here forever". The average league bowler doesn't understand how 2 lane courtesy works because it isn't taught.
Yes Jack, i agree one lane is more than enough in league, other wise we would be in there all night. And like FOX said the lane to the right technically has the right away. And i agree with the rest of you, if some one two lanes away throw you off your shot, focus training might need to be on your to do list.
Two lane courtesy in leagues comes form the bowlers who take league way to serious. Sure you are bowling for money but its not that much of a profit and besides if you joined a league to make money you are in it for the wrong reason. If you wanna try and make money in bowling thats what tournaments are for. We have several guys in Greenville that are like that, Ricky Jewell being the biggest complainer about it. I actually witnessed him get into it with somebody over not getting 2 lane courtesy one night, he said they cost a 300 and he almost went home in ambulance that night because of it.
Giving 2 lane courtesy is totally unnecessary during the week.
Some people don't even know what lane courtsey is, sometimes the more experienced bowlers won't even show lane courtesy.I will always give two lane courtesy in tournaments and one lane courtesy in league. That is just me.
1 lane is plenty, it's not like you have to throw "precise" shots in league to score. Nick Ricky Jewell compains no matter what. I crossed with him in the PTQ here in Atlanta a couple of years ago and it stuck with me that he was one of the biggest douchebags I have ever bowled around.

Hopefully the league doesn't let him keep his own score....(I know low blow....but truth hurts)
LMAO. Hey sometimes the truth hurts. Thats good stuff. He really is a douchebag. Ive bowled in leagues with him and its not pleasant. We have crossed in tournaments. I actually had to bowl beside him in back to back regionals, that was not fun, i thought harry was punishing me for something by putting me by him 2 stops in a row. I got a few stories i can share next time i see you.
