Roto Grip Dark Star Review

I found that I my Dark Star fit well into my arsenal. I also own a Nomad, and I thought that the Dark Star served as a great ball to “ball down to” from the Nomad. It’s my go to ball when the lanes transition and I need…

Mutant Cell review

Mutant Cell another great release from Roto Grip.Just hear to tell you all on how great this ball is on the lanes. The new mutant cell gives bowlers a little bit more edge on those longer and wetter lane conditions that bowlers have trouble with finding the right ball to use.The mutant cell gives the bowler a little bit more hook on the backend with this new core and coverstock still thow rolls early as well, but with balls being designed today were getting a litte bit more pop off the corner for… Continue

Mutant Cell Review

Pin to PAP: 5”

Drill Angle: 45 degrees

Extra Hole: On val at midline

Overall a much snappier version of the Cell… This is a ball I can throw deep into the pattern with a great recovery.

Pin carry is phenomenal. I noticed many messengers coming back across the deck whether there were pins still standing or not. The extra torque provided by the tweaked weight block creates the largest separation on my flare rings of all the Cell series.

On a THS I could… Continue

Mutant Cell Review..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Accomplishment: Ball layout with 3 inch pin 1 inch above & left of ring finger..CG below & RG just left of thumb has worked great for this lefty stroker. Layout works on house conditions with medium oil. Ball goes long with smooth back-end and cell hitting carry..Shot a 4 game tournament qual. 279-1031 and another tournament qual. 8 games of 1878 since 1st of Nov., but, as lanes dried out, had to go to… Continue

Mutant Cell Review

Simply put, the new Mutant Cell is a Cell on mega steroids. Want backend that is controlled and drives through the pins?? Mutant Cell is the way to go.

I drilled my Mutant using a 5" pin/pap, MB 3" from pap, with a 3" pin buffer. I bowled a game with it after I finished a PBA league on the scorpion 41' pattern. This Mutant was too strong out of the box for that 41'. I used a 4000 abralon pad on a spinner and, voila, perfect. I used it on a 41' house pattern and shot 704 (246-255-203)… Continue

Pre bowling

Hi my name is Derryck T. Vanish I'm from charleston south carolina. I have been bowling regliously for 10 years now. My average has gone from 140 (ten years ago) to the 224 book average that I carry to every tournament I enter in for the 2009 -2010 year. I bowl every night of the week, I have one MAJOR problem though. I work shift work. I have been doing it for the last 14 years. I am blessed to make a very good living for myself and I am able to support my passion which is bowling. Those of us… Continue

Nomad Solid

The new Mid-Range & Priced Nomads should be a big hit with all levels of bowlers this season. The Solid Reactive with the Rotary Core I found not just a Med-Heavy oil ball, but is very smooth on league house shots as well. As a 72 yr. Old LH Stroker I had the Solid drilled with the 3-1/2 inch pin just below the ring finger & the CG kicked out 1-1/2 inches. Staying behind the ball on the house shot & at 15 mph, the ball had a very smooth re-action between 15 & 7 boards. My 1st… Continue

Nomad Pearl

I believe this Nomad Pearl will out shine the great Silver Streak pearl. With the same core as old Silver, but with the updated Ultra Vision Pearl Reactive I have found nothing was lost after the break point & the carry to the pocket was super. My drilling with a 3 inch pin…has the pin 1-½ inch above & left of ring finger...CG is out another inch w/ X-hole..My lst 4 games of practice was on a modified house-sport shot w 42 feet oil. As ta 70 plus LH stroker, I went up 1st arrow &… Continue

Roto Grip Crown Spare Ball

I thought the Spare Tire got lots of looks when it 1st came out, but, the new Crown Polyester lights up the house. Even the ladies stop by to check out this pretty Crown Jewel. I leave it on the table for show & to help sales until I need to use it. The surface appears harder than the Globe & skids further down the lane. Should help me better on the 7 pins, even on the driest conditions. Larry Hoffman, Roto Grip Advisory Staff

BRUNSWICK DEMO DAY

I was fortunate enough to be invited to Brunswick's Demo Day earlier this week . I'd like to thank Johnnie Jackson of Bowlers Express Pro Shop for inviting me, and always doing a fine job on my bowling equipment.

The Brunswick and Morich balls have changed a tad bit. For those who felt that Brunswick balls "rolled too soon" or "hooked at your feet" you're in for a surprise. The Morich line has even added a new ball that hasn't been released yet called the "Craze". It utilizes the… Continue

Nomad Solid review

I have my Nomad solid drilled with the pin to the right of the ring finger with a 5 x 4 layout. This ball is great out of the box for medium oil. The 1500 polished finish is perfect for a typical house shot. The Nomad is a stronger shell than its the Grand Illusion.

I find it effective as the lanes start to dry in the track area.

The ball is clean through the heads and responds nicely when touching the dry.

The break to the pocket is nice and… Continue

Sometimes when you lose, you really win - RBT Match Play Championship

Remember that great quote that Gloria told Billy in the movie White Men Can’t Jump??;

“…Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.”

Well…(LOL), hey… I actually experienced that this weekend while bowling at the McNair… Continue

Nomad Pearl

I drilled the box condition Nomad Pearl with a pin (2-3") just above the fingers on grip centerline, Cg on gripline ,no weight hole, producing a skifd/flip layout .

The Silver Streak, symetric Rotary Core wrapped in the Ultra Vision pearl cover, produces an excellent read of the lane and explosive hit on the pins.

I used this ball on a PBA Sr Tour 37' shot in Decatur Illinois on both qualifying squads .The Nomad Pearl made a nice move down lane off the pattern, and had a… Continue

Nomad Solid +Nomad Pearl

Nomad Solid,I can really say this is the ball. The all new roto grip nomad solid, gives the bowlers that silver streak line back in there hands, but more like a sliver streak on steroids, cause of haveing the core from the silver streak put in a all new cover stock (ultra vision) solid reactive. The namad will give bowlers that early look on the lane and more even out backend ball reaction. My nomad (drilled from box service) 5x3 to my pap.So got pin belov middle finger and cg center of grip,no extra… Continue

Crown Spare

Roto Grips all new look in one cool looking spareball. This new crown clear polyester spare ball is not just going to get those single pin conversations out of your way,but you will have the coolest spare ball going down lane and in your bowling bag.Cause of its clear polyester cover this ball wont hook at all, once you ain and throw for those single pins make sure to throw it in the right spot.If not, well just say good bye cause this ball will not hook back.So for you bowlers out there looking… Continue

Nomad Solid Review

I drilled the box condition (1500 polished) Nomad Solid with a pin just below the fingers on grip centerline, Cg out, and a 31/32 weight hole on a line from grip center to the VAL, which placed it in the thumb quadrant. (Modified RICO Layout)

The Silver Streak, symetric Rotary Core wrapped in the Ultra Vision Solid cover, produces an excellent read of the lane and explosive hit on the pins. If you liked the Silver Streak, you will definately like the Nomad Solid.

Roto Grip Crown spare ball is awesome

The new Roto grip spare ball the Crown is the coolest looking spare ball on the market. Besides being cool this ball is a ball you can go straight with for those pesky ten pins or 7 pins if you are left handed. I have never seen a spare ball go so straight. This makes those spares lots easier there is no guess work, just draw a line with your eyes to the spare you are after and throw the Crown down that line. This ball will stay on that line. Now for the best part you will be noticed as… Continue

Nomad Solid by Roto Grip

The new Roto Grip Nomad solid is going to be a hit another nice addition to the Roto Grip line. I was really happy to hear they were going to use the Silver Streak core with the new cover stock. I was not disappointed. I set this ball up with 5 by 3. I put the pin beside the ring finger this layout requires an extra hole. I have a high track axis is 6 over and ¼ up. I get a very good mid lane read and a hard arc in the back. I use this ball on lanes with medium to heavy oil on longer patterns.… Continue

Nomad Pearl

The new Nomad Pearl is a great compliment to the Nomad Solid. When the lanes are hooking a little early with the solid you can step right into the Nomad Pearl. The pearl will go through the front of the lanes with ease go longer and save energy for the back end. I drilled this ball with the pin just under the fingers in grip center with the cg directly below 12:00 stack. This ball came with a 1 and ¾ inch pin from cg. My track is high axis is 6 over and ¼ up. The great part is I found that I… Continue
